House Things Has Been Condemned

This years theme for Halloween was taken from my business name...House Things turned into Condemned House Things. To accomplish this I used torn lace, tattered lamp shades, creepy crooked pictures, worn books, crows, spiders, hornets nests, and, moss. I threw in a little strange for fun. Enjoy......

I pinned the wicked Halloween tags/ornaments to a decrypted chair.

Vintage milk bottles sprayed with chalkboard paint.

The crows have found a new home in some old black shoes.

An old camera plate used as a chalkboard.

This vintage lamp was painted gray to go perfectly with the
deep purple lace lampshade I made.

Tattered lamp shade and vintage
glove molds holding french postcards of old architecture.

I don't think Iowa is ready for doll parts. But I had to do something on the crazy side...stretch the limit...Halloween, it's the one time of year we get to do something different, let loose, and have some fun.

Got this idea from my friend Elizabeth.
Old photos stuck behind french collars.
Thanks Elizabeth.

Piles and piles of used books.
Notice the spider on the underside of the vintage slip chandelier.

  1. This was a fun project huh...I think we are well on our way to becoming the resident NUTS at Sisters'...heehee!!!

Yeah, believe me, Iowa is just learning how to have fun with head nightlights and chandeliers...and mustn't forget the eyeball earrings...who wants to be so serious's all about the fun!

Or are we just tetched in the head?!! I'll be up Wed. to fluff...later dude!

  2. I hope you don't mind if I borrow your chalkboard bucket idea! Your displays are truly inspirational! Great eye!

  3. Absolutely FABULOUS displays! I so wish I wasn't SO far away! I'm in LOVE with it all!

  4. Brandon, I want to first say thank you for making my day. That was one of the sweetest comments it has been my privilege to receive. Every word I wrote was true and this current display just proves my words were prophetic. Magical displays! Wicked design work...has E seen this? I see a lot of great ideas I'm going to steal, I mean don't be surprised if you see some of your clever ideas show up on my blog!

You and Sue with your crack head babies! What do they put in the milk in Iowa? LOL

  5. Hey Brandon- the hand with the finger makes me laugh...Judy and I almsot bought a hand to give to someone, but that wasn't the finger we were planning on leaving :) You inspired me with the crows- I made witches hats for mine...
